Hartford, CT – Today, Gov. Lamont reminded people across the state that he’s never backed down when it comes to reproductive rights, and he won’t be backing down any time soon. Gov. Lamont will continue fighting to protect and expand access to safe reproductive care in the state of Connecticut.
Bob Stefanowski’s Position
At a recent forum, Bob Stefanowski promoted a 12 week abotion ban, saying “I think abortion should be limited to the first trimester.” His proposal would be more restrictive than laws passed in states that have banned abortion entirely post-Roe and goes even further than the national ban recently introduced by Republican Senator Lindsey Graham. Governor Lamont’s Position
Gov. Ned Lamont released a statement following the U.S. Supreme Court decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, which overturns the landmark protections on reproductive rights. “Decisions on reproductive healthcare should only be made between a patient and their doctor without the interference of politicians…As long as I am governor, reproductive rights will be protected in Connecticut and I will do everything in my power to block laws from being passed that restrict those rights.” [Office of the Governor, 6/24/22]

“We’re a family-friendly state that respects women,” Lamont said. “I know some of you are in states like Texas which are outlawing a woman’s right to choose. We have codified, we’re protecting a woman’s right to choose because that’s about respect.” [Hartford Courant, 09/10/22]
