Tonight Stefanowski to Repeat Same False Attacks, Court Extremist Supporters

Bob’s flailing campaign continues to throw any attack they can imagine to try and turn sinking numbers around

Hartford, CT – Tonight in the WFSB – CT Insider Gubernatorial Forum, Governor Ned Lamont will deliver his positive and optimistic message celebrating the successes of his first term like turning historic deficits into surpluses and having one of the best responses to the COVID pandemic.

In contrast, Republican candidate Bob Stefanowski will continue his efforts to court his most extreme supporters with false attacks and hyperbolic rhetoric.

• Bob has stuck to the false claim that Governor Ned Lamont raised taxes by $2 billion, something that as one reporter put it “claims that Lamont raised state taxes by $2 billion, or anything close to that, are just plain wrong.”
• Bob’s campaign has been lacking in transparency since the beginning. After he spent months calling for honesty from Governor Lamont, Bob finally came clean and admitted to earning millions working for the Saudi Government. A fact he hid from Connecticut voters, and for obvious reasons.
• Bob will try and avoid his horrendous record on guns, including his A-rating from the NRA – which contrasts with Governor Lamont’s efforts to get illegal guns off our streets.
• Bob continues to claim Connecticut is crime-ridden when the numbers constantly show that we are one of the safest states in the nation – and ignore Gov. Lamont’s historic investment in law enforcement and public safety.
• Bob will say he’s the best candidate for our families and schools, but leave out how disastrous his tax plans would be for education funding.
• Bob will try and distance himself from national Republicans’ plans to outlaw abortion nationwide, but won’t talk about the anti-choice extremists who are “heartened” by his candidacy, and spending millions on his behalf.

It’s clear that Connecticut voters aren’t responding to his desperate claims, and that they share Governor Lamont’s optimism for our state.
