Hartford, CT — Tonight, In the WFSB CT Insider Gubernatorial Forum, Republican Candidate Bob Stefanowski made it crystal clear that if he is elected Governor he will work to roll back women’s right to choose in Connecticut when, after lying about Governor’s position on Roe v Wade, he told the panel “I think abortion should be limited to the first trimester.”

Limiting abortion to the first trimester would be a 12-week ban. Prior to the fall of Roe v. Wade, a 12-week ban would have been even more restrictive than the laws passed in states like Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, and Tennessee – all of which have since banned abortion entirely post-Roe. A 12-week ban is also even more restrictive than the national ban recently introduced by Republican Senator Lindsey Graham.

“We have known and said all along that Bob Stefanowski would not defend Connecticut women’s right to choose if he was Governor and now he has finally come clean and admitted he wants to restrict access to abortion in our state. A first-trimester ban is even farther to the right than Senator Lindsey Graham’s national 15-week ban proposal. Connecticut women simply cannot trust Bob to defend their rights. Governor Lamont has always stood up for women’s right to choose and the framework established by Roe v. Wade. He’s been with them since day one and he will always stand with them. Now more than ever it is clear that choice is on the ballot in Connecticut this November,” said Jake Lewis Lamont campaign spokesperson.
