Hartford, CT – Yesterday, Everytown for Gun Safety, a movement of nearly 10 million mayors, moms, teachers, survivors, gun owners, and students endorsed Governor Ned Lamont and Lieutenant Governor Susan Bysiewicz for reelection.

Gov. Lamont and Lt. Gov. Bysiewicz have protected Connecticut’s status as a champion of smart, common-sense gun laws, signing multiple gun control bills, including policies that strengthen the state’s red flag laws, ban ghost guns, and require safe storage of weapons. The pair helped institute an agreement with other Northeast and Mid-Atlantic states to share gun data in an effort to reduce gun violence across the region.

“I am proud to earn the endorsement of Everytown– they know that gun safety and violence prevention are life or death issues. Here in Connecticut, we’re working day in and day out to close loopholes, collaborate with our neighbors, and get illegal guns off the street. And we’ll keep working to make sure people across the state feel safe at work, at school, and everywhere they travel in Connecticut,” said Governor Lamont.

“Everytown works relentlessly to protect people across the country with common-sense gun laws, and I am grateful to have their support for the work we do here in Connecticut. Since taking office four years ago, Ned and I have fought to strengthen and improve gun safety legislation, protect our communities against gun violence, and support evidence-based programs that reduce gun violence. We have collaborated with our neighbors, worked to close loopholes, funded violence intervention programs, and more. We are eager to continue our work and keep saving lives,” said Lt. Gov. Susan Bysiewicz.
