Connecticut’s primary election is Tuesday, August 11, 2026. Polls will be open from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Only registered members of the Democratic party may vote in the Democratic primary.

In Connecticut, you can:

Absentee Ballot Voting - Open Now!

You can request your ballot online now: nedlamont.com/absentee

Apply by July 24th!

All voters are now eligible to vote by mail and may request an absentee ballot. Applications are now available online or through your town clerk’s office.

You must request and fill out an absentee ballot application. Then you will receive your absentee ballot to fill out in the mail. Carefully read all the instructions and let us know if you have any questions!

Completed absentee ballots must be returned to your local town clerk by Election Day. They can be mailed, not postmarked, to arrive before or by Election Day or you can drop it off at your town’s secure ballot drop box.

Early Voting in Connecticut

Early voting runs from August 3 through August 9 at designated early voting locations in every town across the state.

Voting early is secure, convenient, and helps ensure your voice is heard on your schedule.

Before you vote, make sure:

  • Your registration is active
  • Your address is up to date
  • Your party affiliation is correct

Voter Registration Deadline

  • Online or by mail: July 24, 2026
  • In-person voter registration: available through Election Day

Party Affiliation Deadline

To switch political parties before the primary, the deadline was May 11, 2026. Unaffiliated voters may enroll in a party by noon on August 10 to participate in that party’s primary.
